I just wanted to say I placed an order for an i7 3820, X79 motherboard and 64gb of RAM, have no idea what the performance jump will be like (I'm on a Core2 Quad 8200 atm sitting on 4gb)

Lucky sob
You finna overclock to 5.0? I'm at 4.4 on my i7-3820 right now and honestly I can't tell the difference between this and 3.5
Also as a sidenote
I put all my Windows and design software on an Intel 330 series SSD that is 60gb, I'm currently on 25gb free. It was fast as hell when I started, load times were like 5-6 seconds for startup and ~2 seconds for Photoshop.
As time goes on, it's getting slower. Load times for Windows is now exactly the same (sometimes slower) than my old SATA II 500GB drive. What's the point of an SSD, again?

Probably too many programs starting at the startup?
Type msconfig on the CMS, go to startup and remove every program you don't need.
