Where are you now?

Postby Batchy » Thu Jan 11, 18 9:11 am

Good afternoon players,

It was such an interesting few years as a dx player. You could find the best players in 0 aug servers (lol). Players creating mods, abusing mods (hello, Jim Bowen, caity? Allan! nobody, Alex), a lot of drama on which we all thrived on. It was a great time to be alive. I want to hear the best and the worst. But most of all for the older players in dx, what are you doing now? Are you still alive?

I'll give you my story. I'm a very successful father of two beautiful children.

I'm going to make some tags so when they feel a bit nostalgic they can find the thread: c[a]t what happened to your brother?, majestic , ~~DJ~~ , Ebola (predicted the end) , [A]lan , psychotic (you were a fgt) ! Mastakilla, player_666, Daedalus, [a]lex turned out to be a good friend. James, big heart no balls. Kaiden the maiden. Greyfox I remember you. How's your isp? Aw I'm just getting started

Still kind of resent how you went out your way to damage this community, you only have to look at your avatar.

Otherwise I work for the police these days in IT.

I wonder why James is ball-less

On confessions, I was on the verge of being denied joining Alpha originally (as I couldn't fight at all and hung out in RP servers for the most part), but Dae noticed a line in my profile regarding interests in web development. He approached me with developing the alpha knowledge base with the basis of rivaling Deja's, as no one wanted him to have the sole depository of knowledge.

Dae wrote:The problem with your joining was that I had to find a job for you. Now I have found it.
Are you interested?

Regards
Dae

The truth is I had no idea about web development or content management, but had set up some free website for some long dead clan, so felt qualified. I wasn't going to turn down the position, so used it to get into Alpha. And from there I pretty much abused my authority to gain access to binds, exploits and positions of power in various communities (I think I was an Admin with around 9 communities/clans/servers at once at my peak.)

I feel in the long run I contributed enough to warrant my acceptance though (not to mention all the KB guides), even if the main thing I brought was a bridge between the casual/RP community and Alpha which was sorely lacking. Good times :D

Nice post Batchy. Congrats on children.

You totally get it, and dont worry drama went to the peak in 2012 & 2013 lol. What those guys tried against me (read abuses) and called it legit is totally nasty and hilarious haha. Worst part was when MTL abuse was discovered, and it was proven that Darko is not delusional, that superbinds were there (one click healing done + new gun in hands already) + those glitchy jumps with no drop damage were artillery of almost every guy then + auto reloads, pistol glitch... I could go on and on, few used wh (when you hide behind wall of the road movement and guy comming from 200 metters towards you, and starts shooting on the wall before he even see you, you know something aint right lol). Funny thing that this aint all, some things we will probably never know :) But now I do laugh through. Discord is online now and all seem to be finally friendly. Not sure through if there would not be war if we all finally meet in one server :P Just kidding.

About me: Nothing knew, still have not meet some of you legends. Got job, managed to broke bone + get cold, but recovering.

Pretty sure a lot of people were using reload/med binds from like 07 or earlier, I know Dae gave me a few in 07. We had ones that didn't GPF though, I think the medbind GPF'ing one was pretty common knowledge.

Randomly started reminiscing about the DX days.

Found this post as a result.

Had to make a new account (couldn't do password recovery as I no longer know the old email address...)

I see some names I remember here (James in particular) - good times were had on 56k dial up.

Thanks for the fun, guys and gals.

Jesus H. Christ.

Yesterday while my nephew was playing TTT on GMod I heard a familiar sound... The map he was playing on was a recreation of the UNATCO HQ and DX1 soundtrack was playing on background... Oh boy the memories.

0Aug vs AUGs, Australian players and their lag, Fun maps and the deagle, lame clan tags and coloured names, servers running with 600MB of mods whic at the time (2005-2006) was really too much for my 7Mbps line :D

Good to see that this forum is still up.

What happened to DAE, Alex and Globalnode?

Alex and Dae are still around am sure, not sure on the 3rd!

Yeah not sure what the plans are for the forums but appreciate it still being up. I know a lot of google links and knowledge are hosted here which is still used by players so it's handy.

This is my first time posting on this site and this seems to be the only actual active part of this forum. I came to ask if the "new" masterserver is no longer active or there are just no servers. Either way its really interesting to look at a piece of forum history I've never been apart of, like some sort of internet archeologist.

Howdy! I still check the forums every week or so, mostly to get rid of spam, if any.

Honestly can't say I remember the name sniper1990, did you use that alias back then as well?

Forum is still online, have no intentions of taking it down either, masterserver should still be running (with servers listed on it, as Kaiden mentioned), should it stop working just let me know (via forum/PMs).

Currently just graduated university in the states. 23. Played with a lot of the people that posted in the thread. Aliases I had were Revan, DXM Revan, blkltanthony. I miss the community and hours spent on MSN socializing and getting to know everyone. Gaming today is now so different and I miss the lot of you. I specifically thought of this site last night, just popped into my head. Glad to see many of the familiar names.

Hope you all are doing so well

Hello everyone.

I see a lot of familiar names here, that's cool. Personally I haven't touched DXMP in over 10 years.

I have done my homework though and have played all the modern Deus Exes. :]

I will confess that I also bought a Deus Ex 3 coat.
